Lyle Povah

Lyle has been a long time regular guest at Give Peace a Chant since its beginning in 2001, bringing sacred music and songs for peace to our community. He is co-creator of the GPaC CD, Peace Through Music.

Lyle is a singer/percussionist/guitarist, writer, recording artist, teacher and entertainer, with a special interest in African drumming. He has studied and performed worldwide and is a pioneering educator in musical areas related to health and creativity, community building and intergenerational learning. He works throughout North America and Europe, in hospitals, retreat centres, jails, eating disorder programs, schools, and at conferences, corporate team building sessions, and community events. He is on the faculty at the Haven Institute for Professional Training, (haven.ca), on the Integrated Care Team at MaxFit Movement Institute (www.maxfit-movement.com) and works regularly for the UBC Sauder School of Business. Lyle has shared music with sick kids at B.C.'s Children's Hospital one day a week for the past sixteen years. He leads the longest running weekly "drop in" Community Drum Circle in Canada, an intergenerational and intercultural musical event moving into its 11th year, and has a private practice using sound to promote wellness in Vancouver, British Columbia.
